F2i finalises the agreement for the sale of Irideos

Milan, 21 December 2022 – F2i Sgr, the largest independent infrastructure fund manager in Italy, has finalised an agreement for the sale of Irideos, the leading Italian ICT hub in cloud services and data centre and fibre optic infrastructure. 

Irideos’ technological platform brings together 15 data centres in Milan, Rome, Trento and Verona, the largest private Italian Internet hub (Avalon Campus), Italian multi-cloud platforms that are all AgID certified and a fibre optic network of 27,000 km along the main motorways and the Adriatic railway. Its current size, with a turnover of more than €190 million and EBITDA of €30 million, is the result of a series of acquisitions and additions carried out with the support of F2i Sgr during 2017-2018.

The buyer, identified through a structured competitive process, is the Asterion fund which, following a takeover bid, acquired a controlling interest in Retelit, operating in the same sector as Irideos and may guarantee the continuation of the plan for strengthening the offer and for the integration that started under the management of F2i.  In particular, the integration between the two companies would create a national operator with a scale suitable for competing in the sector, therefore concluding the efforts by F2i that led to the integration of 5 smaller-sized companies, making Irideos what it is today.
